The CWI has extensive facilities for connected waters studies, available through the Faculties of Science and Engineering.
Field and laboratory equipment, and specialist computing software is operated by the School of Biological Earth and Environmental Sciences at Kensington, and the Water Research Laboratory at Manly Vale.

- Water Reference Library with over 21 000 items, mainly in the fields of hydraulics, groundwater, fluid mechanics, and coastal engineering
