Internal plume structure using laser induced fluorescence
The CWI has extensive facilities for connected waters studies, available through the Faculties of Science and Engineering.

Field and laboratory equipment, and specialist computing software is operated by the School of Biological Earth and Environmental Sciences at Kensington, and the Water Research Laboratory at Manly Vale.

The main facilities at WRL include:

  • Numerous wave basins and testing flumes
  • Sample preparation and chemical analysis laboratory
  • Soils analysis laboratory
  • Well tanks for large scale simulations
  • Walk-in cold storage
  • Mobile air-conditioned laboratory
  • Fully equipped woodwork, metalwork and electronics workshops
  • Water Reference Library with over 21 000 items, mainly in the fields of hydraulics, groundwater, fluid mechanics, and coastal engineering
